It currently consists of lead vocalist Adam Levine, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist Jesse Carmichael, bassist Mickey Madden, lead guitarist James Valentine, drummer Matt Flynn and keyboardist PJ Morton.
Unique members Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden and drummer Ryan Dusick first met up as Kara's Flowers in 1994, while they were still in secondary school. The band self-discharged a collection called We Like Digging?, then marked to Reprise Records and discharged the collection The Fourth World in 1997. After the collection gathered a tepid reaction, the band parted courses with the record label and the members attended school.
In 2001, the band changed its picture by including guitarist James Valentine and seeking after a different direction under the name Maroon 5. At this point, Carmichael switched to playing consoles, which has since become his principle instrument in the band. After these progressions, the band marked with a backup of J Records, Octone Records, and discharged their debut collection as Maroon 5, Songs About Jane, in June 2002. The collection's lead single, "Harder to Breathe", got substantial airplay, which helped the collection to debut at number six on the Billboard 200 chart. In 2004, the collection went platinum and has been dubbed "the sleeper hit of the thousand years". The band won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2005. For the next couple of years, Maroon 5 toured extensively worldwide in support of Songs About Jane and created two live accounts: 2004's 1.22.03.Acoustic and 2005's Live – Friday the 13th. In 2006, Dusick authoritatively left Maroon 5 after anguish from genuine wrist and shoulder wounds and was supplanted by Matt Flynn. The band then recorded their second collection, It Won't Be Soon Before Long and discharged it in May 2007. The collection achieved number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and the lead single, "Influences Me To wonder", became the band's first number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100.
